Today at 10:30 AM, Knights of Columbus Council 14079 from Holy Spirit Catholic Church continued a tradition that has become one of our favorite Valentine’s Day outreaches. For the 8th year in a row, Holy Spirit Council delivered Valentine’s Day balloons to the residents and staff of Soddy Daisy Healthcare Center—a simple way to say: you are remembered, you matter, and you are loved.
Valentine’s Day is about love, and love is most meaningful when it’s shared—especially with those who may be facing illness, limited mobility, or time away from family and friends. A bright balloon at the door and a friendly visit can bring a genuine lift to someone’s day.
A Place of Care in Our Community
Soddy Daisy Healthcare Center serves individuals in our community who need skilled care, daily support, or long-term assistance. Facilities like this provide far more than medical attention—they offer stability, dignity, and consistent compassion for residents who depend on the care of others. We’re grateful for the staff who serve with patience and kindness, and for the opportunity to encourage both residents and caregivers with a small sign of appreciation.
Youth Involvement: Learning to Serve with Heart
One of the best parts of this outreach is seeing our youth involved alongside the Knights. When young people help prepare and deliver something as simple as Valentine balloons, they learn that caring for others isn’t abstract—it’s personal. It’s a chance to practice compassion, to recognize the dignity of the elderly and vulnerable, and to understand that our faith calls us to show up for people who may be overlooked.
These experiences plant important seeds: empathy, respect, and a habit of service that can last a lifetime.
Teaching Love and Care for Those in Need
Our hope is that moments like today help teach the next generation what real love looks like: not just words, but action. It’s learning to share joy, to be present, and to offer encouragement to those who need it most. Serving residents at a healthcare center reminds us that every stage of life deserves honor—and that no one should feel forgotten.
Thank You
Thank you to everyone who helped with this year’s Valentine outreach—especially the youth who participated and the Knights who continue this annual tradition. And thank you to the residents and staff at Soddy Daisy Healthcare Center for welcoming us again this year.
