All Catholic Men Invited: Cor Kickoff at Holy Spirit of Soddy Daisy

Posted on February 3, 2026February 3, 2026 by Richard Faulkner

Cor is coming to Holy Spirit of Soddy Daisy — all Catholic men are invited

Holy Spirit of Soddy Daisy is launching Cor—a men’s faith formation gathering centered on prayer, formation, and fraternity. While Cor is hosted by our Knights of Columbus council, you do not need to be a Knight to attend. If you are a Catholic man of the parish, you are warmly invited.

Our goal is simple: provide a consistent, welcoming place for men to grow in faith, strengthen brotherhood, and become more intentional disciples of Jesus Christ—then carry that renewal into our homes, our parish, and our community.

First Cor Gathering

Date: Friday, February 28
Time: 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM
Location: Church Pavilion (Holy Spirit of Soddy Daisy)
Who can attend: All Catholic men of the parish (18+)
Cost: No cost — breakfast is provided

What to expect (Prayer + Formation + Fraternity)

Cor gatherings follow a simple rhythm designed to fit real life and build momentum over time:

  • Welcome + Breakfast
  • Prayer (Faith Action): Divine Mercy Chaplet
  • Formation: Teaching + discussion
  • Fraternity: Table conversation and fellowship
  • Closing prayer

Our focus for the first meeting: The Divine Mercy Chaplet

At our kickoff, we will pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet together and then have a brief discussion on the origin of the chaplet and the promises associated with Divine Mercy devotion.

The Divine Mercy devotion is closely connected to St. Faustina Kowalska and the Church’s call to trust in Christ’s mercy. The chaplet is a practical prayer we can return to—especially for sinners, the suffering, and those in urgent need of mercy. We will keep the teaching approachable, even if this devotion is new to you.

No preparation is required. If you have a chaplet or rosary beads, bring them. If not, simply come and join in.

Formation series for the first five meetings

For the first five Cor gatherings, our formation topic will be:

“Forgiven: The Transforming Power of Confession”

Confession is one of the greatest gifts Christ has given His Church—bringing freedom, healing, and a renewed ability to live as the men God is calling us to be. Over these first sessions we will focus on practical, faith-filled formation that helps us understand the sacrament more deeply and approach it with greater trust and consistency.

This is for every Catholic man—bring a friend

Cor is intentionally welcoming. You can come as you are, participate at your comfort level, and meet other men who are also trying to grow in faith and live it more consistently. If you know another Catholic man who could benefit from prayer, brotherhood, and a strong start to the day, invite him to come with you.

How Cor supports the Four Tennessee Knights promises

In Tennessee, the Knights of Columbus have articulated four promises that reflect the mission of forming men and strengthening families. Cor is one concrete way we live those promises at Holy Spirit of Soddy Daisy:

  1. Helping men grow closer in their relationship with Jesus Christ
Cor puts prayer first (Divine Mercy Chaplet) and provides formation that strengthens men as disciples.
  2. Providing opportunities for Catholic men to serve Christ in His Church
Cor builds faith and fraternity so men can serve more consistently in parish life—through ministry, leadership, and regular participation.
  3. Providing opportunities for Catholic men to serve those most in need in the name of Christ
Genuine charity flows from conversion. Cor forms men who are prepared to serve through works of mercy and parish/council service.
  4. Working to ensure no Catholic family experiences unnecessary financial hardship
Stronger men build stronger families. Cor supports men in becoming more intentional husbands, fathers, and brothers, while connecting them to the Knights’ broader mission of assistance and support for families in times of need.

Cor is hosted by the Knights, but it is aimed at strengthening the entire parish by inviting men into deeper prayer, formation, and fraternity.
